Following the thrilling conclusion of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship, attention now shifts to Q School, where players will battle for the opportunity to secure a two-year proffesional darts Tour Card. The event spans seven days and is divided into First Stage and Final Stage, with concurrent tournaments held in the UK and Europe.
The 2025 PDC Qualifying Schools (Q School) are poised to kick off next week, drawing over 800 players from around the globe to compete for 29 Tour Cards and a spot on the prestigious PDC circuit.
The highly anticipated event, starting on January 6th, will take place at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, UK, and Wunderland in Kalkar, Germany.
29 Tour Cards on the Line
The Final Stage, running from January 9-12, will see 29 Tour Cards awarded. Each daily winner from the UK and European Qualifying Schools will automatically earn a Tour Card.
The remaining 21 cards will be distributed based on the Final Stage Orders of Merit from each region, with allocations reflecting the proportion of participants from the UK and Europe.
First Stage Format
The First Stage, held over three days, will feature 474 players in Europe and 354 in the UK. The top eight players from each day will automatically advance to the Final Stage.
The remaining spots in the Final Stage—featuring 128 players at each venue—will be filled through the Order of Merit standings.
High-Profile Q School 2025 Entrants
Several notable players are set to make their mark during Q School. Former Tour Card holders from 2024, top performers from the 2024 Winmau Challenge Tour and Development Tour, and emerging stars will compete in the Final Stage.
UK Q School First Stage: Three-time World Champion John Part and South African ace Devon Petersen headline the field. Former Grand Slam champion Scott Waites and 2022 Women’s World Matchplay winner Fallon Sherrock will also take part.
European Q School First Stage: Germany's Max Hopp, a former World Youth Champion and two-time PDC titleholder, leads the pack. Women’s Series standout Noa-Lynn van Leuven, Belgium’s Brian Raman, New Zealand’s Ben Robb, and Poland’s Krzysztof Kciuk will also compete.
Veterans and Rising Stars in the Final Stage
UK Q School Final Stage: Australian darting legend Simon Whitlock, veteran star Mervyn King, and two-time Women’s World Matchplay champion Beau Greaves will vie for Tour Cards.
European Q School Final Stage: Dutch star Jeffrey de Zwaan and Austria's Rowby-John Rodriguez headline the field, alongside Czech World Cup duo Karel Sedlacek and Adam Gawlas.
Match Format
First Stage matches will be contested in a best-of-nine-leg format, while Final Stage
matches will be played over the best of 11 legs.
